Red Skelton's Pledge of Allegiance
This is great, and I think it explains why the flag belongs to the people. When we pledge allegiance to it, we do not pledge to our government!

It's time to get recharged. Any shame brought upon this nation by her unworthy leaders and an apathetic and sleeping generation is done and cannot be undone, but those of us who know what America really is need to swipe the dust from our feet and get to work. There will be some tough times ahead, but we will get through them.
I think we could all stand to be reminded that America is still great for her people and for the covenant made with us of protection and prosperity if we'll serve the Lord. I hope that we can all remember to be repentant, and humble followers of Christ and have faith that whatever turmoil may come, we may have our burdens to be made light by the Lord and in the end, if we keep the faith, we cannot lose.

I was going to post this, but then as I was searching other posts I found yours. This is really good and I thought it needed to be resurrected since you posted it in 2009.ChelC wrote:This is great, and I think it explains why the flag belongs to the people. Thanks for resurrecting it! I think it's wonderful. I hate that people politicize the flag. It's for the people, not a symbol of the government. We have a wonderful history and wonderful people.

Re: Red Skelton's Pledge of Allegiance
I echo the positive sentiments about becoming a righteous people, and I liked a lot about what Red brought up in his monologue. The original pledge was written by Francis Bellamy, a Christian Socialist.
Why would a socialist want school children everywhere pledging allegiance to an inanimate object like a flag as opposed to, say, the Constitution, God, etc.? The pledge is a tool intended to condition the minds of those who repeat it. What would Thomas Jefferson condition us to say or believe that Francis Socialist Bellamy may have left unsaid?
From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Francis_Bellamy:

From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Francis_Bellamy:
I am not opposed to saying the pledge, under certain circumstances, and I do like the flag and hope it can represent the best about America. However, the history and purpose of the pledge is interesting to consider... I'm not railing on the pledge or saying it is bad; I'm just pointing out its associated history, so people can protect themselves from the end-goals of its socialist author.Bellamy "viewed his Pledge as an 'inoculation' that would protect immigrants and native-born but insufficiently patriotic Americans from the 'virus' of radicalism and subversion." (Didn't some founders insist that people should be wary of government - even to the point of frequent revolution?)
Bellamy was a Christian Socialist who "championed 'the rights of working people and the equal distribution of economic resources (that's always a winning ideal), which he believed was inherent in the teachings of Jesus." ("Thou shalt not steal?" Christ taught voluntary giving not compulsory force of government to accomplish good.)
Bellamy's views on immigration were somewhat less egalitarian. (Pretty racist... Is that Christian, too?). He wrote that "a democracy like ours cannot afford to throw itself open to the world where every man is a lawmaker, every dull-witted or fanatical immigrant admitted to our citizenship is a bane to the commonwealth; where all classes of society merge insensibly into one another.” (His pledge attempts to merge us into one herd = Contradiction? Not if it's coming from his top-down approach. It is voluntary association among children of God that is threatening to him, along with consent of the governed... He wants to control us, but he doesn't trust us with control. Hmm? Socialism is awesome like that.)

Re: Red Skelton's Pledge of Allegiance
I personally cannot bring myself to say the pledge anymore for many reasons but I'll give just two:
1. “God provided that in this land of liberty…our allegiance and the only allegiance we owe as citizens or denizens of the United States, runs to our inspired Constitution which God himself set up.” - President J. Reuben Clark, Jr.
2. "“Again, ye have heard that it hath been said by them of old time, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths:
But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God’s throne:
Nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King.
Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black.
But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.” -Jesus Christ (Matthew 5:33–37)

Re: Red Skelton's Pledge of Allegiance
Why is saluting our flag any different than what Moroni did?
Alma 46:11-13,36 19,20 35
11 And now it came to pass that when Moroni, who was the chief commander of the armies of the Nephites, had heard of these dissensions, he was angry with Amalickiah.
12 And it came to pass that he rent his coat; and he took a piece thereof, and wrote upon it—In memory of our God, our religion, and freedom, and our peace, our wives, and our children—and he fastened it upon the end of a pole.
13 And he fastened on his head-plate, and his breastplate, and his shields, and girded on his armor about his loins; and he took the pole, which had on the end thereof his rent coat, (and he called it the title of liberty) and he bowed himself to the earth, and he prayed mightily unto his God for the blessings of liberty to rest upon his brethren, so long as there should a band of Christians remain to possess the land—
36 And it came to pass also, that he caused the title of liberty to be hoisted upon every tower which was in all the land, which was possessed by the Nephites; and thus Moroni planted the standard of liberty among the Nephites.
19 ...he went forth among the people, waving the rent part of his garment in the air, that all might see the writing which he had written upon the rent part, and crying with a loud voice, saying:
20 Behold, whosoever will maintain this title upon the land, let them come forth in the strength of the Lord, and enter into a covenant that they will maintain their rights, and their religion, that the Lord God may bless them.
35 And it came to pass that whomsoever of the Amalickiahites that would not enter into a covenant to support the cause of freedom, that they might maintain a free government, he caused to be put to death; and there were but few who denied the covenant of freedom.

Re: Red Skelton's Pledge of Allegiance
as quoted above.I personally cannot bring myself to say the pledge anymore...
Obama has the same problem....along with the globalist secret combiners who maintain our ignorance, squalor and poverty... world wide.
We pledge allegence not to the secret combinations that have seized our government or the jewish banksters that have seized our monetary system or public education that have seized our youth....or the regulation and wealth transfer systems that has destroyed our industry and spirit.... but to States United...The Republic...Under God...Liberty and justice for all.... yes IDEALS... Still the greatest place on God's green earth...
As they juice us up with their time wasting games, government education and other handouts, drugs, porn, mindless media, To break our families financially, to kill personal responsibility and consequences, turn men into women and women into men, and turn us into sports fans...
Our government is but a reflection of our selves and we get what we deserve.
Lets pledge allegence to the flag of the republic.... to liberty... to justice and to ALMIGHT GOD.
