Cultural Marxism - Origins and what it is

Post by larsenb »

Cultural Marxism – this philosophy dominates our current society and government. There may be other threads on this issue . . . but it bears repeating because of the light it sheds on what is currently going on.

Originator: Antonio Gramsci – Born Italy, 1860-1937; Italian Communist Party leader – See Prison Notebooks. See Wikipedia article at: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antonio_Gramsci" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; . Main ideas: cultural subversion, destroy the family, the march through the institutions

The Frankfort School – The Institute for Social Research - picked up the ball from Antonio Gramsci. Produced ‘Critical Theory’ designed to produce ‘cultural pessimism’. See Wikipedia article for overview: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frankfurt_School" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

A couple of key members of the Frankfort School:
- Herbert Marcuse; see: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Herbert_Marcuse" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
- Theodor Adorno; see: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theodor_W._Adorno" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Videos explaining Cultural Marxism:
- What is Cultural Marxism: https://youtu.be/G8pPbrbJJQs" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Very good, short overview. This will be made visible to give you a taste:
- Why are we in Decline - Cultural Marxism: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VggFao85vTs" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; – This is excellent but long.

Closing comment by Pat Buchanan on the video: Why are we in Decline - Cultural Marxism: "The Constitution of the United States represents no threat to our form of government".

I watched yer first video, but still don't understand why. And who is directing it, it seems very top down rather than a grass roots effort, who is at the top deciding what is good or bad?

Watch the second one. Much more detail.

Basically, it was Antonio Gramsci an Italian Communist Party leader who realized they were going to have to wait a long time for the 'revolution of the proletariat to put in place communist goals. He realized that the best way to gain progress was to undermine/subvert the fundamental cultural institutions of a country, which act as the main cultural glue. He realized this would have to be done incrementally, over time.

Read up on Gramsci to understand his reasoning.

This is what has been done over the last few decades in European and American society; e.g., efforts to undermine the family (sexual revolution, disdain for mothers in the home; pushing and protecting homosexuality and related lifestyles, including same-sex marriage, indoctrination of children at a young age about such things. And the list goes on. Look around you.

Gramsci's writings are mostly about hegemony, but they aren't quite modern cultural Marxism.

The term Cultural Marxism/Cultural Bolshevism was a term of abuse by Bolsheviks towards less hands on revolutionaries. It was not coined by the National Socialists/Nazis as some claim
