All 30+ stakes in Oregon received the same message, from Salt Lake, during the Sunday session of Stake Conference. The speakers included Elder Pieper of the Seventy, Sister Elaine Dalton (YW General President), Elder Hales and President Uchtdorf.

Elder Pieper's talk was very fascinating. His content dealt with freedom and democracy as found in the Book of Mormon. I was able to get a copy of the talk and am still studying it. Here's a point from his talk I'd like to share:

Don't ostracize or ignore any groups of people. He told about the Nephites being the only ones who would take in and care for the Anti-Nephi-Lehies. This move led to the preservation of their freedoms when the Anti-Nephi-Lehies, even though they would not fight because of their covenants, allowed their sons, the Stripling Warriors, to fight for and uphold the Title of Liberty. We know how that story ended.

Here's the parallel I take from his message: don't be so quick to fight against illegal immigrants as they may just be the ones to help in this fight to preserve our freedoms. We cannot be sure how it will be done but that it will happen. Think about this: these immigrants have run from one corrupt government to another. Their backs may soon be against the wall and they will have no choice but to fight. Would they really go back to their native lands when they have children here? Their children could take on the role of the Stripling Warriors.

I'm against illegal immigration but this talk really made me stop to think. Elder Pieper asked us to ask ourselves why these events are mentioned in the Book of Mormon. He also mentioned King Mosiah instituting judges and the 44th through 62nd chapters of Alma.

Maybe like Christ, we are supposed to go like a sheep to the slaughter allowing this country to be crucified knowing it is necessary to bring about the resurrection. Therefore, just like the Foederati German Barbarian Illegals destroyed the Roman Empire, maybe we are to allow TPTB to use Illegals to destroy/bankrupt America knowing Zion will take over. And at this point, we may want to lash out like Peter, but should realize that we probably couldn't change much politically even if we did.

That is my understanding also. They are not terribly freedom oriented. They generally seem to want socialism. Look at failing California which is overrun with illegals. The church is right. We shouldn't separate their families. We should ship them all back home. Or better yet, do like Missouri: Stop the socialist welfare handouts, etc..and they will send themselves back home. I have recently read that Missouri has no illegals.

The Foederati were alien German Barbarians that were non-Roman citizens permitted to settle within the Roman Empire if they served in the military. I wonder if illegal immigrants would be used as the Foederati were in Rome. Recently we have been seeing the Congress attempting to pass the "Dream Act" which would grant amnesty to illegals who serve in the military. If the US goes to war with Iran and WW3 results involving Russia and China, I cannot imagine things going well for us. Therefore, I imagine the military will likely take anyone they can get. The question remains, what is it that will cause the "remnants" to "become exceedingly angry?" In light of this, I am in favor of doing whatever doesn't anger the "remnant of the seed of Jacob" who live among us.

The military has been taking anyone they can get for a long long time now.....hence the saturation with inner city poor kids trying to escape their environment.....and on the flip side those that go in for further training to carve out a new niche for themselves when their time is up.

Ok, here is my interpretation of the talk based on what I know of the People of Ammon. The people of Ammon were hardened Lamanites who delighted in murder. The gospel was preached among them and they were wholly converted. So maybe we should be looking around at current of former perceived enemies. Personally I did not care for anti-war liberals, democrats, etc. But having awakened to the true causes of warfare I have seen that they are right about some things that I previously disbelieved. There are things that I feel I work with them on that would further the security and prosperity of this country. Maybe in the future true democrats and republicans can come together to form a new political party that actually looks out for the best interests of these United States. Oppression brings an awakening, some people still need more oppression.

Thanks for posting this Moss man. It's nice to hear some tidbits about stake conf.

I'll be watching it this Sunday. (Unfortunately, our satellite was not working and we couldn't get an internet stream...so...we were unable to view it. Our bishop obtained a copy, and we will view it this Sunday).

I talked to a member friend at work (who WAS able to view conf) and she said it was wonderful. Apparently Pres. Uchtdorf and Elder Hales? stressed spiritual and temporal preparedness, which appears to be a theme this season, as that is what others are reporting about their regional/stake conferences.

Get HandBrake... Works like a charm I just put it on "Normal" settings usually. It will rip a movie file, then you'll have to post it on the web or on a server. Try Dropbox if you don't have anything to post files.
