The old canard that these RINOs are “putting Party above principle” is far from being true. They are putting their own agenda above BOTH Party and principle. And they would rather defame, undermine, and destroy a fellow Republican who is a conservative, then let that person win an election. Remember how the RINOs always quoted “Reagan’s 11th commandment” to us whenever a RINO was selected, and how we conservatives were supposed to just lump it and rally ‘round the banner for the Party candidate? How come this standard doesn’t apply to the RINOs? Instead, they feel perfectly free to blow us up, and our chances of making the changes that the American people want along with it.
Talk about the “Taliban wing of the Republican Party.”
You guessed it – electoral IED. If he couldn’t have the nomination, he was going to split the Republican vote and make sure that the guy who did would go down in flames in the general. If he couldn’t have it, he was going to make it worthless to have. Fortunately, his plan appears to be failing, as practically every poll from over the last month has Rubio leading handily in this three-way race. Apparently Charlie forgot to wire the detonator caps correctly.
In Utah, we saw another RINO take a dive. Bob Bennett, one of the most notorious Republican Senators for working with the Democrats, reaching across the aisle so to speak, ended up not even being renominated for his seat by a convention of his own Party. Clearly, Utah Republicans were tired of him, and decided he needed to retire. In the ensuing primary between Tea Party-backed candidate Mike Lee and Tim Bridgewater, who was backed by the establishment and by Bennett, Lee won.
The TEApublicans won another victory. So what did Bennett do? Did he accept the choice made by the rank-and-file, and get on board with rallying ‘round the banner for victory in November? Nope. He refused to endorse and support Lee, and then began making all the talk show circuits, loudly complaining about how conservatives like Lee were “destroying” the Party and “ruining” everything. In doing so, he hoped to destroy Lee’s credibility and chances of winning against the Democrats. Utah being what it is, this is not going to work, of course, but it’s a shame that Bennett even decided to try.
