In my opinion, I agree that there are too many women in the church who are wearing unbelievably worldly outfits to church. One would have to be blind to not notice several of the men straining their necks to catch a glimpse of them. I will give you 1 example, and this is the absolute truth. A couple of weeks ago, we had a young woman in church whose dress was so low cut and she was so amply endowed that at least 75% of her breasts were exposed. It was embarrassing. She stayed through all 3 of the meetings. I don't know why she wore that distracting dress to church. In her defense, all I can think is that perhaps she outgrew the dress she had and was too poor to buy another dress that fit her properly.

A confident woman is a modest woman! A real woman is aware of her influence. A woman of God would never wish to have any influence but a good one to those around her.

It baffles me how women can be so incredibly ignorant. I mean, she must know that she is showing her body parts I mean if she ever looks down...

It seriously baffles me!!
WHY do you want all sorts of men gauking and thinking any number of things? Her poor husband....I wonder if he wished he had something special that every other guy they are around didnt also get to see.

AT LEAST quit with the trying to impress with your body at the Lords house!

18 In that day the Lord will take away the bravery of their tinkling ornaments about their feet, and their cauls, and their round tires like the moon,

Was it just me?
I dont think the women of the church read this or care about it, or possibly think it doesnt apply to them.

But then again, if we actually applied some of these scriptures to our real lives at church....

The young women in our ward are mostly modest, except one who moved here to Southern Utah from the south Salt Lake area. Her parents are wonderful people, but they apparently don't want to have the fight with her. She has a brother just back from a mission and another out right now. She wears see-through blouses with the skimpiest of undergarments, and short, tight skirts. My husband and I have our own share of rebellious children, so we try to just appreciate the fact that at least she's at church.

The adult women in our ward are mostly modest, wearing a T-shirt type top under a sun-dress (long to the floor), except the overweight ones that wear tight dresses they are flowing out of on the top--ewwww.

Men are responsible for their own thoughts. I for one am sick of men blaming women for their addiction to pornography. You go looking for smut showing your wives that is what you prefer. How many women in the church are having to compete with pornography for their husband's attention, time and love? And if you are involved with pornography and you think your wife isn't having to compete you are sadly very wrong.
Frankly sometimes I wear knee high socks in the winter with a skirt that goes below my knee. Amazing how many men turn and look at my socks. Doesn't matter what you were there will be some man that it will turn on and it will be our fault.

Personally I find the heels of today kinda trashy. Ditto for those wedges. I do like the sandal-looking ones. From a medical perspective - if women are wise, they'll only wear them for a few hours at a time. Wearing them all day will distort the feet. Not a good look in the long run.

I agree with you on both points: men are responsible for their thoughts, and there are men who will blame women for their own shortcomings. Fortunately, not all do, though. I believe everyone is responsible for his/her own sins--this also includes women (and men) who dress provocatively. How we each define "provocative" I guess will be forever debated.

Speaking as a sinful man, though not proud of it, a fit woman will always be attractive to me, no matter how modestly she's dressed. But I do have huge respect for women who look great, but don't feel a need to show off their bodies with revealing attire. Their beauty will shine through no matter what they wear.

And high heels? You'll never catch me wearing those things. :-B

Men are responsible for their thoughts. To that, I mumble a reserved amen.

Women are responsible for the bravery of their tinkling ornaments about their feet, and their cauls, and their round tires like the moon, The chains, and the bracelets, and the mufflers, The bonnets, and the ornaments of the legs, and the headbands, and the tablets, and the earrings, The rings, and nose jewels, The changeable suits of apparel, and the mantles, and the wimples, and the crisping pins, The glasses, and the fine linen, and the hoods, and the vails.

You know what isaiah has to say about all that crap.

Can't we have pure simple sanity? The simple appreciation of what God made without modification, without piles of junk thrown on for show? May as well start painting roses as cave to unnatural and perverted beauty standards. As though... the majesty and beauty of womanhood had anything to do with shoes or painted nails. It's dumb. Why? Why did we do that?

Braingrunt I say to you that men are the reason women are having to compete with pornography. I for one am sick of men criticizing women and never looking at why women are doing the things they are. And there has been an explosion with pornography. I am betting if you tracked the explosion of pornography and put that up to a graph of the explosion of plastic surgery you would find they match. I have friends whose husbands pressured them to get boob jobs and yes those men are involved with pornography. What kind of man isn't satisfied with a real woman but would rather have a fantasy? And yet men are choosing fantasy over reality every day.

Just grateful my husband chooses me. Oh and on a side note I only wear a wedding ring. I am not into jewelry. Not all women are.

So, now that women are justified in competing with pornography, I suppose our young boys are justified in growing up to expect paint and heels, and our young girls are justly condemned with warped body image.

Look, whosever fault it is, it's still dumb.

Women don't have to compete with pornography. How women dress and act is their responsibility. What's good for the gander is good for the goose.

Amen.

If you want to say:
men are solely responsible for their thoughts, in spite of how women portray their bodies
Then to the same degree you should say
women are solely responsible for how they portray their bodies, in spite of how men think

or the contrary:
men are partially responsible for how women portray their bodies
then also:
women are partially responsible for how men think

It's a feminist mentality that is very pervasive in our society. I see it in the church a lot, too.

Men think lustful thoughts: men's fault
Women dress like hookers: also men's fault
Women: responsible for nothing

So then it's okay for them to wear high heels, right?

Okay all you guys, let's move on. I like to look at a pretty woman just as much as the next guy. And I do like legs, which is what high heels are all about. But let's start to act like the Priesthood men we are supposed to be. When you talk to a woman, or at anytime actually, look at her face, her eyes, and her smile. Keep your gaze where it belongs and I guarantee you won't be near as bothered by some of the things people have mentioned and then laid at the feet of "women" as if that somehow excuses their own behavior. Keep your eyes where they should be and you probably won't even notice the heels, the tight skirts, or whatever is attracting your attention. It's our problem, no thiers!

Truth is that men and women are both responsible. If there werent sooo many willing women to strip for money and attention and bragging rites then there wouldnt be an explosion of porn. Also, if men didnt fall for a naked willing woman everytime she showed up, then.....

Another truth that some may not fully realize is that its a sing and dance between the sexes but MEN are the leaders of women! If men didnt want naked strange women then guess what? There would be a grand decrease of immodest women. A woman is designed both physically, mentally, emotionally to be pleasing to men. Its a fact! If men were pleased by virtious things then thats what women would be! But we all have our natural side and we Must overcome it to see true beauty and happiness.

If only we all could get over ourselves and grow up. Its just an immature game with lots of heartache

Wow!! That makes the YW's president who reveals 3/4ths of her breasts in EmmaLee's ward seem modest. So is there a nudist branch? Does Fiannan know about it?

Clearly I'm in the wrong ward B-)
