I Will Not Be Broken

Post by Durzan »

I will not been beaten, I will not stand down,
Though the devil may send his hounds.
The hand of God watches over me,
and protects me from spiritual death.
And it is He who gives me the strength
To take another step.

I will not be beaten, I will not give in.
Though my foe may knock me down,
a thousand times or more
And though his tortures make my body sore
I refuse to bend.

Each time I fall, I will stand back up
And accept my Savior’s hand;
For although the adversary’s burning hooks
Are sunk deep within my flesh,
My Lord has the power to patch me up,
And lend me daily breath.

Though each step I take pains me,
And leaves me marred beyond all sight
I continue to look upwards, and seek Heaven’s Light.
Though each wound I bear leaves me faint,
The Lord is always with me,
To cleanse me from Satan’s taint.

You may see me battered and broken
Upon the bitter shores;
Yet even in this mist of darkness
From my Savior, I cannot be torn.
I am Stronger than the Adversary,
Thank’s to the Lord’s bright light;
And as long as I stand with Him,
Then I will be able to fight.

I will not be beaten, I will stand firm
For though the Adversary will knock me down,
I cannot give in.
The many scars I bear are deep and troubled tears
My loyalty is firm and locked;
My choice has been made clear,
I Will not be broken, I will not be stopped;
For I am the Lord’s ever more.

Durzan,

Nice thought. I am not familiar with the text. Is it a quote, or something you wrote yourself?

Regards,

George Clay

It is something I wrote myself. I am a writer, remember?

I like it, were you thinking of the marred servant in 3 Nephi 20,21 when you wrote it? Thats what it made me think of. He sounds just like this, taking some serious damage, but holding firm in his faith and serving Christ.
43 Behold, my servant shall deal prudently; he shall be exalted and extolled and be very high.

44 As many were astonished at thee—his visage was so marred, more than any man, and his form more than the sons of men—

45 So shall he sprinkle many nations; the kings shall shut their mouths at him, for that which had not been told them shall they see; and that which they had not heard shall they consider.
