...and it is the eleventh hour...

Post by freedomforall »

Doctrine and Covenants 33:3
3 For behold, the field is white already to harvest; and it is the eleventh hour, and the last time that I shall call laborers into my vineyard.

Just what is the eleventh hour?

When did the eleventh hour begin?

What is the time frame for an hour in this sense?

What would then be the first hour, and how long is it. The second hour and so on?

Does the reference to an hour relate at all to the time of Kolob? Or is there a completely different reason and purpose for the term?

Based on what, why did God use the term "hour" if it does not relate to any other reference to time as we understand it?

One day of God's time equates to one thousand years to us, right? Where does "eleventh hour" fit into all this?

I know a lot of these questions may seem redundant, nevertheless, they are food for thought and hopefully will cause deep thought in a variety of people having different ways of looking at the purpose of the basic premise.

Anyone given much thought to this?

Is this why I see 11:11 so often?

I've always thought that this scripture was a generalization describing the near end of a 24-hour day and not a situation that we can apply the 1-day-is-a-thousand-years ratio to. I've also always questioned the "1/2 hour of silence in heaven" interpretation of being 21 years using the same ratio. I think it just means: "this is the last gathering effort ... it's 11 p.m. and the day of repentance is almost over"

Have your lamps trimmed and filled with oil, being faithful and praying always.

Maybe it means that Seven-Eleven is doomed.

Although this is a fictitious way of figuring, and just for the fun of it, when the figures 4000 years BC and the 4000 years AD are added...then divided by 12...we come up with the number 666. :-? :-ss
