I haven't seen these. So at some time I'll go thru' them. The few that I have seen are good, they really are well done and bring the Book of Mormon stories to life.
I had seen some of the "meet the Mormons", ok, yes, enough of that. I'll just do my meeting in person.

Well, I watched the first one.
I had no idea it was kids. That has to be the smallest youngest King I ever knew of, but what do I know.
A whole lot of film and only a few minutes of scripture.
But it was ok, as it was about scripture.
Let me try another one.

I was taken aback as well, but they did a pretty good job. Who knows maybe some of them will move up to church productions, of which, are all quality and heart warming films.David13 wrote:Well, I watched the first one.

Some of the longer productions are of a higher quality of acting.
Legacy
The Mountain of the Lord
How Rare A Possession
The Search For Truth, and in this light alone, my apologies go out to Ed Goble.
Here is a list of LDS films that can be viewed:

I watched Coriantumr and Shiz. Too much time spent on sword play and slo mo and all that. I'd rather see more scripture in there.
I started on Testaments. It looks good. I'll invest the 1 1/2 hours later.
Legacy looks real good. The history and the pioneers. I was an American History major in college and so I studied the church and the pioneers and the settling of Utah.
So this one should be something I'll really like.

But it looks like you have several good ones there Freedom.
Well, Legacy was very good. Very similar to one I already saw, might have been Joseph Smith History or something, or maybe it was this one. I skipped over the brutality parts this time.
Here's one I found a few years ago, yes, Death Valley Days, the show announced by Ronald Reagan at one time. So this is not by the church, but ...
Interesting nonetheless, I think. It's a story about the earliest days of St George then known as the Dixie Mission.

I can almost guaranty you will like Testaments. it is so spiritually uplifting. Pay close attention to the references to "folds" as well.David13 wrote:I wanted Coriantumr and Shiz. Too much time spent on sword play and slo mo and all that. I'd rather see more scripture in there.

Have you ever seen Greatest Story Ever Told with Max Sydow, Charlton Heston and Dorothy McGuire? The background is a little irritating, but the movie is view-able. Other links want you to click on another link. Of course the film can be rented. While on the Island of Okinawa in 1967 viewed the movie several times. It isn't truly biblical in all events but the acting and such is rather pleasing.

For the curious, this one looks real good as well.
Jesus Of Nazareth
The King of Kings
Jesus Of Nazareth
This one is way before our time, but looks rather good to watch from 1927

For a silent movie DeMille did a wonderful portrayal of Jesus and surrounding events.

Yup, an excellent presentation. I had a similar experience while stationed in 29 Palms CA back in 69. I didn't like the high desert at first but when I journeyed from place to place on my free time, I came to love the many cacti in blossom, in May, and the openness of the landscape. Upon going back to SL after my discharge, I felt closed in for several weeks.David13 wrote:I wanted Coriantumr and Shiz. Too much time spent on sword play and slo mo and all that. DeMille's "The Ten Commandments" is one of my favorites! Can't beat the Charlton Heston and Yul Brynner combination. From what I've read, Brynner didn't want the bigger Charlton to look more "manly" or powerful, so he got on a rigorous training schedule to muscle up.freedomforall wrote:For a silent movie DeMille did a wonderful portrayal of Jesus and surrounding events.

I also enjoy DeMille's "Samson and Delilah" with Victor Hugo and Hedy Lamar. Love the classic movies :X

Imagine Arnie Schwarzenegger having had the role of Moroni instead of Conan. That could have been a draw for the church.
