Re: FREEDOM WINS!
Absouletly but NOT until the Millenium. Utah Membrs of the Church at the 90% level uphold people who wish to destroy the Constitution and establish a NAU.

Re: FREEDOM WINS!
That may be true, but it could also be true that 91.437% of all statistics are made up on the spot. If you provide documentation for your statistical analysis, I'll provide some for mine.Captain Moroni wrote:Absouletly but NOT until the Millenium. Re: FREEDOM WINS!
Just check the voting results for the GOP primary in Utah. Just check the fact that Romney supported the establishment of the North America Union which would REQUIRE a new Constitution for the merger of the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
FYI, I don't make things up as you charge me.

I also recall a statistic that 90 something percent of all people lie. So why believe a statistic?
I wouldnt waste my time trying to verify 90%, I would simply agree that via apatthy and ignorance and even perhaps some willfull intent, that many members of high percentage have supported political figures that do not uphold the constitution at a very high or well understood standard.

I was suggesting that the I dont think arguing the numbers is necessary and that it should be obvious that there are many among all sects, denominations (including LDS) and parties that have not befriended the constitution.

How did you conclude that 90% of Utah Mormons uphold people who wish to destroy the constitution? You've made some assumptions! 8) All I get from your link is that 90% of the republicans in Utah voted for Romney. Did I miss something? You could be right but I didn't see it in the link.
Also, I don't think that all those misguided Mormons actually wish to destroy the constitution. They're just very ignorant and dumbed down IMO. But I see your point.

Re: FREEDOM WINS!
Shadow, you're right to say that the full 90% want to detroy the Constitution. I stand corrected. I would guess that most are just illinformed. I would NOT have supported Romeny even if was 100% for the Constitution because he publicly denied that God visited JS and made fun of the JS erevelation on plural marraige. I can't trust a persaon who would deny the very foundatiuons of the Restored Gospel. I don't rationalize away Romney's clear remarks because I happen to be GOPer like I have had so many GOPer Mormons do.

Re: FREEDOM WINS!
I think some false info has been told so many times that people think it's fact. Romney said that God hasn't spoken since Moses and perhaps some others. Has anyone here asked Mitt who the others are that he referred to? I don't translate his comment (I admit it was a weak answer) into him denying God visiting Joseph Smith. Unless you're referring to other comments Mitt made that I'm unaware of??? In fact, I believe President Hinckley made a blunder during an interview he gave a few yrs back. I won't bring that one up.
PS, I never supported Mitt.

Right again Shadow. At least be accurate if you are going to critisize someone about something that they have said.

Re: FREEDOM WINS!
Shadow and Mark, I guess we will never see eye to eye on Romney's denial indirectly of the FACT that God visited JS. I've seen all the RATIONALIZATIONS possible.
I've been heavily involved helping at the highest state levels in many campaigns over the past 40 years.. I KNOW that serious. ambitious candidates and their team of paid workers/advisors try to figure out ahead of time what questions are likely to be asked. Briefing books are created and reveiwed and updated constantly. They become the "Bible" of the campaign.
This was NOT an accidental "slip of the tongue." It was planned out ahead of time to do the least damage possible caused by Romney's Mormon beliefs. He knew exactly what he was saying AND SAID IT publicly DURING A TV interview. By logical extension, he denied that God visited JS. IF he was being opem and honest, he would have said that God visited JS and that is the very FOUNDATION upon which the Restored Gospel is built.
When I ran for NC Governor a similar question was asked me but in a private interview by a newspaper reporter. I didn't hesitate to bear my testimony of JC. IMO, every LDS running for office should be ready to be truthful.

Yes, that's what I was thinking of.ldsff wrote: Is this what you guys are refering to?
Now that we can read it, look at the question asked. Mitts statement without the question is out of context.

Re: FREEDOM WINS!
ldsff , yes and no on what Romney said. I'm talking about a video where Romny is being interviewed by a TV station in Boston and answers the question for everyone to hear. I know the SLT is no friend of the Church.
AS to what Romney actually meant, that would have been simple to clear up. Just come back on the same TV show and say" I do believe that God appeared to JS. I'm sorry IF my previous statement about Moses being the last person was misinterpreted by some."
Wouldn't you agree? In fact, IF I were the GAs I would require Romney to do that or take away his TR. I know IF I had said that when running for NC Governor, I would have and should have had my TR taken away.

I am not a Mitt fan but I would not judge him too harshly on the issue, pressure can make you forget the easiest facts. It is not an issue for me. I say God bless Mitt and I hope he gives up politics. I have made big mistakes in my life and I am glad my priesthood leaders showed me mercy and granted me room to learn.Captain Moroni wrote:ldsff , yes and no on what Romney said.
