Fireproof

Post by ChelC »

I'm bummed that this movie isn't playing in any Utah theaters that I can find. It looks like it could be really great!

Those of you outside of Utah go see it and let me know. I have it saved to my netflix queue so maybe I can see it in a year. :(

My wife who is in AZ was going to go see it tonight. I watched the trailer. I was a little concerned. Anyway I read more about the movie and As I understand the guy had a Porn problem? . Anyway it is about saving marriage and I think it will be a good movie.

It isnt playing in WY yet. But dont worry, they always hit the bigger metro venues first, watch for playing next week in UT?

I don't know??? I don't think you need to be concerned, I think it's pretty clean. Also I just picked up the book The Love Dare which is what the character in the movie uses to strengthen their marriage, and it looks really good. Uses the NIV of the bible, but I think it looks great. I would like to see the movie, but may wait for it on netflix.

Sorry, I wasnt trying to imply there would be inappropriate behavior in the movie. I think it will be good.
I very rarely spend any mony at the theater. When it hits the dollar theater I might be inclined? However I do think it will be good. I also saw that book in a link somewhere. I would be interested in it also.

I just heard some reviews today on the radio. On a grading system it got a "D". Rotten tomatoes gave it a 57% here:

Okay, this finally went to video and I got it from netflix. The first several minutes of the movie my husband and I exchanged glances over the really distracting bad acting. It had the feel of a hallmark movie. If you can get past that the message was great. It's was really really good if you can forgive some painfully forced acting at times.

Kind of like most John Wayne movies
If the movie is good but the acting is poor I'm still inclined to watch it. Did your husband like it?

He said, "That was a good movie, but Kirk Cameron should go back to Growing Pains or stick to his gospel channel." He doesn't like chick flicks so that must mean it's bearable for most men. :)

I agree wholeheartedly with your review. I saw this with a friend in TX a few months ago. Even though it certainly jives with LDS teachings, I suppose they figure we won't watch it because it's evangelical? Anyway, the acting is absolutely terrible and cheesy, but the message is really fabulous.

Yeah, if someone were having marital problems it could probably be a bit painful to watch (but worth it). We have a good marriage and still I felt like I needed to make some changes after watching it. I didn't think I was selfish, but it made me realize that I frequently am. I don't want to give away the message, because I think people should see it.

Well if you wouldn't have mentioned Kirk Cameron and chick flick I might have watched it.

Yeah, I had to drag my husband kicking and screaming. Still, it was good. You could get the same message by checking out the book The Love Dare that is used in the movie.

My mother loved it. My father endured it, but said all in all he would recommend it to others (this coming from a die hard James Bond/007 movie fan--my father that is).

I'm renting it tonight. I'll let you know what I think.

OK, despite my previous post, I loved this movie. Perhaps it is because I'm a Firefighter, perhaps not. But it had an excellent message all the way around and I'd highly recommend it.

Just watched it with my daughters (ages 12 and 13). I had to explain to the 12-year old about the computer-pornography thing. We all really liked the movie. Yes the acting wasn't that great in places, but I would recommend the movie to everyone. I'm a cryer, so my younger daughter and I were both crying at the end.

I'm NOT a crier and I cried.
