NAME the FORUM...

Postby BrianM » Mon Oct 22, 2007 7:30 pm

If I was to give the forum a different name other than "Latter-day Conservative Forum" what would you name it?

I am open to suggestions for a new name for the FORUM.

Here are some keywords that describe who the forum is targeted to:

LDS, mormon, politics, freedom, liberty, conservative, constitutionalist, libertarian, secret combinations, conspiracy

Some other ideas that might cause an idea to spark in your head are:

Name the forum after a place in the book of mormon, or after something that somehow reminds us of freedom and LDS. A name that states the objective of the forum which is a place for LDS to discuss "politics".

There are some technical reasons for why I am wanting to do this.
All my opinions are tentative pending further data...

The Matrix is real...

I'm thinking, but so far everything sounds cheesy that I can come up with.

Wow! I am obviously biased towards this site, trying to encompass the focus' of the forum in a name is difficult for me. I think we have to include a strong element of futurity and dare I say Zion (in concept though not likely in name).

I like an element of "Holding it Up," as I think that is what we are all trying to do (relative to the Constitution). I like the name having root in the inspired word (past or present). So many LDS themes are dare I say worn out? Or rather overused?

We'll think on this one a while.

The thoughts that kept coming to me that were cheesy were Standard Bearers, Keepers of the Covenant, protectors of the promised land... but they aren't right... plus they are narrow.

My favorite so far is "The Second Track" Forum.

Derived from Cleon Skousen speaking on the Life of J. Reuben Clark jr.:

Track Two

But the Lord isn't going to allow this government to be destroyed. Although administrations may destroy themselves, systems may destroy themselves, this country's going to survive. J. Reuben Clark knew how it would survive: build track two. Don't get in front of that train on track one, it will just run over you. You quietly build track two.

Sometimes people say, "Dr. Skousen, you spent your whole life studying these things that have gone wrong, with the attack on the Constitution and everything. Why are you so optimistic?"

I say to them, "I read the book, and in the end, we win." Now, it's on track two that we win. J. Reuben Clark never lost confidence in having a generation finally become alert, and finally doing its homework, and getting into a position where they would do what God and the Founding Fathers intended that we should have been doing all the time.

So, I bless his memory. I bless his integrity. I bless his tenacity. I'm so grateful for that man. He's been my inspiration, I've learned to love him. I knew him, but not well. I received counsel from him two or three times. One of my books became a national best seller, and he gave me a little bit of counsel about what God was doing, and what to expect, and I was very grateful for that.

Don't use "Latter Day Remnants": this term is used heavily by those groups who condemn the LDS Church leadership and members in general for not seeing things the way they do, or not taking the action you want. Keep it if the main attitude you want to attract and foster is one of constantly criticizing the leadership for not loudly standing with Dr. Jones, not openly fighting the govt, banks, and taxes, or for appointing certain apostles. I think you can remember certain recent persons and incidents. I do not think encouraging dissension and apostasy is the goal of this website.

If you want to go out and confront the secret combinations, or actively fight against them here and now, pick something like "Nephite Warriors" or "Army of Helaman". Be aware that you will be drawing the attention of the PTB unto you, as well as onto your friends & family, and your Church in an untimely manner -- likely outside of the Lord's Timetable -- and like the train on Track 1 -- you will be squashed. Yes, you will go have been technically right, but you will be martyred, going down in a blaze of glory, accomplishing little or nothing of effectiveness. Kind of like the Saints in Missouri who refused the Lord's command through Joseph Smith to gather into the larger settlements, and were raped and massacred at Haun's Mill.

If you want to focus on being prepared to endure the coming hardships, rebuild, and restore the Constitution after the cleansing -- pick "Track Two" Forum with a brief explanation of what the name means.
"Yet it is not our part to master all the tides of the world, but to do what is in us for the succor of those years wherein we are set, uprooting the evil in the fields that we know...What weather they shall have is not ours to rule."

How about "The Waters of Mormon"

I just read Mosiah 18:30 where Alma organized the church in "the place of Mormon, the waters of Mormon, the forest of Mormon" so that came to mind. But I will keep the wheels turning on any more names that come to mind.

That was a big "Duh" for me. I'm familiar with the quote but never put it together with "threepercentite". I'm a bit slow sometimes.

I really liked "LatterdayConservative" until recently when the term 'conservative' started to be used as representing the 'neocon' ideals. Aren't labels great. They keep us from having to search out facts and think for ourselves.

I really like all of these especially;

threepercent.com
thethread.com
thestaff.com

I'm not sure if the "%" sign is allowable in a domain name.

Some of the others that were recommended would be great other than they play into use of other groups that have either apostatized, travel on the verge of apostasy in their criticisms of the brethren, or have an agenda of their own.

All three of these seem to carry the ideas that I looked for when I found this forum but we all know I'm a strange duck so ...

Ammonite Gathering has B. of M. origins and describes the steadfastness of spirit, though the numbers be few.

(Those numbers were comprised of people who in their conviction to be true to covenants, buried their weapons and vowed never to take them up again lest they sin before God. The others were those who believed they could not avoid taking up arms in order to preserve all they held dear).
