LDS Political Neutrality Finally Established?

Post by jonholb55 »

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has an official policy of political neutality. It has been the practice in the past for the majority of LDS to give almost blind obedience to the Republican Party. Even after Mitt Romney was thrown under the bus by the Christian Evangelical base of the Republican Party and Gov. Huntsman proved himself to be a McCainiac and an Arnold clone, the majority of LDS voters in Utah continued to support these two gentleman. Why? Because they had the Republican label.
KSL radio continues to be the Repulican, but NOT the conservative voice of Utah. Rep. Jim Matheson (D-Ut) no longer returns Doug Wright's phone calls for an interview for two reasons:
(1) Because the Democrats control all three branches of the Federal government and the election is past.
(2) The Republican-bias of KSL makes any interview with a Democrat less objective, although Doug Wright could be more liberal than Jim Matheson.
The Republican Party needs to reform itself and offer a true alternative to the Democrat Party. The current leadership of the Republican Party believes that you need to be more like the liberal Democrats to win. The answer is an obvious "NO". The United States Constitution needs to be the platform of the Republican Party and a return to the Christian ethic and legal system which this country was built on.
The liberal control of the federal government has enboldened them. That is the reason, in part, for the disgraceful gay-rights protestors in front of LDS Temples.
I support the Church's right to speak out on moral issues. Any effort to remove from the LDS Church or its members their Constitutional rights should be vigorously opposed though legal channels.
