Hi all

Hi all—

So when I was growing up in Boise, ID, I swore I wouldn't do three things—go to BYU, join the military, or live in Utah. So of course after I got a mechanical engineering degree from BYU, I joined the military and now I live in I live in Pleasant View Utah. 

I’m privileged to live with a wonderful wife, Michelle, and four kids, Cameron (currently on a mission in Medellin, Columbia), Ryan (high functioning autistic and a bright kid, 17), Garret (15- good natured and quiet), and Alena (14 on pioneer’s day today—shy).

I left active duty and am a mechanical engineer in the civil service working at Hill AFB by day. My night, er, second job is as a reservist in the F-16 program office. I’m a Lieutenant Colonel in the reserves, which as an officer means nothing more than you’ve simply had a fully successful (satisfactory) career. 

I’m also an erstwhile music major; in school I was a cello performance major, until I decided to eat and switched to engineering. However I still keep it up, and my church calling is a music missionary in the Orchestra at Temple Square. Yes, they set you apart to play in the orchestra or sing in the Tabernacle Choir, and they even write a nice letter to your bishop telling him not to call you to any significant callings.  Really though, It’s been a fantastic opportunity, although I’m taking a bit of time off while I get an apartment built in our home for Cameron so he will have an independent living space when he returns from his mission.

Not much else to tell; Michelle taught 4th grade half time for 6 years, and after quitting due to stress and administrative demands, is actually considering going back full time as a music specialist.

Spiritually, preparing for what may come has been weighing heavily on my mind. We've gotten a solar panel system on the house, our years food storage, solar ovens and composting toilets and so forth...

I've also been consumed since about several months ago with the seeking the Lord’s face. I admit I've only seriously been on my journey a short while but I’m laying everything I can on the altar. Michelle and I have had some amazing experiences together and I pray we can keep progressing together.

Welcome, I'm sure you'll enjoy it here.

Make sure and request entry to "The Heavenly Gift" forum as that may contain key information to achieving Michelle and your desire.

I never wanted to go to a church school or live in Utah. Well I just graduated from BYU-I and now I'm taking a job in SLC. I can't wait to see you playing in the orchestra.

Welcome!
