The King's Ascent

Post by dewajack »

There was once a great, young king who ruled in sound judgment and mercy. The king brought in the greatest minds of his day for instruction. He learned much about the constellations from an Egyptian teacher, as well as their mythology and beliefs.

He also brought in a great Hebrew scholar, in an effort to learn the true language of the Bible.

Additionally, he learned of the sciences, math, and many other important subjects.

The king considered these learning opportunities a great blessing from God, and in turn imparted his knowledge to those in his kingdom. It was spread throughout the land that the king was the most intelligent and wisest person who lived on the earth. They knew they could always turn to him for answers on any subject. And as a result, they believed they were the most favored and blessed people anywhere.

One day, the king decided to go on a long journey, hoping to find other tribes that he could share his knowledge and understanding with.

He headed west and took a few of his closest allies with him, and although his people wouldn’t have him any longer, he believed they’d be safe and sound with all the records and truth he left behind.

After a short while, the king arrived on a remote and unknown island, where he was welcomed immediately by simple villagers. Although he didn’t speak their language, nor look exactly like them, he felt at ease in their presence.

The islanders introduced the young king to their leader, and the two set out to find a way to communicate, which they did. The king then shared what he had learned over the years, seeking ways to bless this kind and peaceful people. The village elder was gracious, and in turn, he humbly shared with the king much of what he had been taught as well.

The young king was astonished to find out that much of what he shared with the villagers, they already knew. And in addition, they taught him things that he had never before considered. Soon, the young king put away his books and relics, and began to take notes.

After a time, the king knew it was time for him to leave and return to his people. As he sadly boarded the ship, the young king’s heart was filled with gratitude, for this was the greatest lesson he had ever received.

As he looked back at the villagers waving to him, he thought their leader was the most intelligent and wisest man who lived on earth, and that his people were the most favored and blessed people anywhere.
