FWIW, back in the 1970's Ilya Prigogine's Nobel Prize winning work in non-equilibrium thermodynamics showed that higher order comes out of chaos.

I've never had a problem with the forum rules here and I don't have a problem now.

What I have a problem with is how they are sometimes enforced ... (or are selectively enforced) .... or are enforced not at all.

I also suffer from split opinions on this topic. As a board administrator myself, I understand where the PTB here are coming from. But as a frequent reader and an infrequent poster I am annoyed at how the forum rules and their "enforcement" sometimes get in the way of discussions. It's maddening and I suppose that will just have to remain my problem.

I've averaged 1 board warning a year here. I'm shooting for a full year without offense.

Wish me luck.

Why, why do people sign up and bring chaos, false doctrine, apostate talk, rants against the church and/or its leaders and relentless breaking of rules because of wanting to gain followers. Do these types have free reign now?

Just who is forcing you to cope with trolls? I don't like it either; that's why we have a foe list. Don't trolls have a tendency of poking their heads up and saying bias things so as to strike out at others as a way of baiting and calling people trolls? Now we wouldn't want to do that now would we?
What's worse is for a person quoting scripture right out of the book and posting them being called a troll. Go figure.

I also believe President Trump, as our highest elected official, should be treated with respect by Church members and not called names, regardless of whether a person thinks he deserves it or not.

There is nothing wrong with pointing out his mistakes and unprincipled beliefs or actions (of which there ARE many). Those things can definitely be discussed while still being respectful. The position of President should be up for much scrutiny. I just hope people don't label pointing out wrong-doing as being disrespectful or shameful. It's not the same thing.

Your continued ranting causes me to recall campus protesters from the sixties carrying signs and yelling at the top of their lungs, spewing hatred and strife over the Vietnam conflict.
Then upon returning home, soldiers like myself were treated like a bad plague, being called baby killers and other vile names and labels. This treatment has left Vietnam Vets with animosity in their bosoms that is never forgotten.

On the other hand, I know that that conflict was unnecessary. I know that, under the Nixon administration, 50,000 troops died for nothing, and this is something that I and many others have to bear. Read None Call It Conspiracy.

A few excerpts are:

"The United States has been financing and equipping both sides of the terrible Vietnamese war, killing our own soldiers by proxy. Again, the landscape painters in the mass media have kept the American public from learning this provable fact."

I have more reason, a more valid purpose and a deeper sense of dislike and aversion than you can possibly imagine. Yet I try to keep a civil tongue in my head so I don't allow this repugnance to eat me up. The way I see it, your actions will at some point bring you down, it will cause you to hate more and more, it feeding upon itself until it overtakes you. Even the scriptures I posted have had little to no affect, which seems to corroborate my thinking.

I wonder if you have the mindset of "I will keep posting hate no matter what happens?" Having an agenda like this can hurt you more than anyone else.

Although we ALL agree with this commandment, in October Conference 2001 just after the U.S. invaded Iraq, President Hinckley stated in his talk:

We are people of peace. We are followers of the Christ who was and is the Prince of Peace. But there are times when we must stand up for right and decency, for freedom and civilization, just as Moroni rallied his people in his day to the defense of their wives, their children, and the cause of liberty (see Alma 48:10).

I am assuming you are a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and as such, you are a member of the church dedicated to hosting LDS conversations online but you are culpable of the dissemination and promotion of false doctrine as you are in a position as the forum host to moderate the site when these issues arise.

When topics are contrary to the teachings of the church, contrary to the teachings of prophets and apostles, there are no opinions. It's false doctrine by trying to convince others that their opinion is right despite the official doctrine of the church. By not stopping these kind of posts and behavior, you are promoting and allowing the dissemination of false doctrine as well as confusing others that may read the posts on this forum.

I'm extremely disappointed that you would take this stance to allow the promotion of this kind of blatantly false teaching on this forum. Members of the church are to speak the truth and be honest in all their dealing with their fellow man.

I'm all for having people express their opinion on various gospel topics WHEN there isn't official church doctrine on a topic or a set church prescient. There are hundreds of such threads on this forum dedicated to opinions and speculation on topics that we don't know anything about as there is no official stance by the church. What I object to though is you allowing people to try to convince others that their opinion is doctrine when there is already an official stance by the church.
