2 Ne. 31:21
21 And now, behold, my beloved brethren, this is the way; and there is none other way nor name given under heaven whereby man can be saved in the kingdom of God. And now, behold, this is the doctrine of Christ, and the only and true doctrine of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, which is one God, without end. Amen.

John 8:28
28 Then said Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things.

3 Nephi 19:29
29 Father, I pray not for the world, but for those whom thou hast given me out of the world, because of their faith, that they may be purified in me, that I may be in them as thou, Father, art in me, that we may be one, that I may be glorified in them.

Doctrine and Covenants 35:2
2 I am Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who was crucified for the sins of the world, even as many as will believe on my name, that they may become the sons of God, even one in me as I am one in the Father, as the Father is one in me, that we may be one.

Yup.
It's fixed now. I had to make the theme compatible with the added quote features.
I like the added features, makes it easy to go back to the post for more context. thx

FWIW, back in the 1970's Ilya Prigogine's Nobel Prize winning work in non-equilibrium thermodynamics showed that higher order comes out of chaos.

I really enjoy hearing his view on chaos

ebenezerarise wrote: February 26th, 2017, 3:42 pm I've never had a problem with the forum rules here and I don't have a problem now.

What I have a problem with is how they are sometimes enforced ... (or are selectively enforced) .... or are enforced not at all.

I also suffer from split opinions on this topic. As a board administrator myself, I understand where the PTB here are coming from. But as a frequent reader and an infrequent poster I am annoyed at how the forum rules and their "enforcement" sometimes get in the way of discussions. It's maddening and I suppose that will just have to remain my problem.

I've averaged 1 board warning a year here. I'm shooting for a full year without offense.

Wish me luck.
God's house is a house of order. Shouldn't this forum as Latter-day Saints, strive to have a house of order as well?
Why, why do people sign up and bring chaos, false doctrine, apostate talk, rants against the church and/or its leaders and relentless breaking of rules because of wanting to gain followers. Do these types have free reign now?
And yet, there is always a dash of chaos in Order and a dash of order in Chaos. Yin within the yang, and yang within the yin. Opposites in all things... even within the opposition itself.

Choice or preference? There's a difference.

I find it best to be selective. Straining at gnats and coping with trolls isn't the wisest use of time.

Just who is forcing you to cope with trolls? I don't like it either; that's why we have a foe list. Don't trolls have a tendency of poking their heads up and saying bias things so as to strike out at others as a way of baiting and calling people trolls? Now we wouldn't want to do that now would we?
What's worse is for a person quoting scripture right out of the book and posting them being called a troll. Go figure.

2 Nephi 9:40
...Do not say that I have spoken hard things against you; for if ye do, ye will revile against the truth; for I have spoken the words of your Maker. I know that the words of truth are hard against all uncleanness; but the righteous fear them not, for they love the truth and are not shaken.

1 Nephi 16:2
2 ...wherefore, the guilty taketh the truth to be hard, for it cutteth them to the very center.

I concur matchmaker. It's shameful the way people are acting. If you don't like the man, respect the position. Being a good loser is as important as being a good winner.

There is nothing wrong with pointing out his mistakes and unprincipled beliefs or actions (of which there ARE many). Those things can definitely be discussed while still being respectful. The position of President should be up for much scrutiny. I just hope people don't label pointing out wrong-doing as being disrespectful or shameful. It's not the same thing.

I call Trump Marmalade because he paints his face orange. Please don't tell me I'm the only one who notices. Why don't you Trump supporters think it strange that the most powerful man on the planet (if you don't believe Ether 8) feels the need to put on orange war paint every day? Other than joking about his choice of make-up, I call out Trump for his broken campaign promises and his warlike actions and the horrible people in his cabinet.

At some point Captain Moroni had to point out that Amalickiah was evil. If you want to say that Trump and Amalickiah are different then I'll agree, but it's only a matter of degree not character.

To Trump haters:

Matthew 5
44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, ...

45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.

46 For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? ...

47 And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? ...

Luke 6
35 But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.

36 Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.

37 Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven:

Are you a paid protester?

Your continued ranting causes me to recall campus protesters from the sixties carrying signs and yelling at the top of their lungs, spewing hatred and strife over the Vietnam conflict.
Then upon returning home, soldiers like myself were treated like a bad plague, being called baby killers and other vile names and labels. This treatment has left Vietnam Vets with animosity in their bosoms that is never forgotten.

On the other hand, I know that that conflict was unnecessary. I know that, under the Nixon administration, 50,000 troops died for nothing, and this is something that I and many others have to bear. Read None Call It Conspiracy.

A few excerpts are:

"The United States has been financing and equipping both sides of the terrible Vietnamese war, killing our own soldiers by proxy. Again, the landscape painters in the mass media have kept the American public from learning this provable fact."

"The Rockefeller and Eaton families have now joined forces to build war production plants behind the Iron Curtain so that the Communists can become a bigger threat to U. S. survival. America spends $70 billion a year ostensibly on defense and then the Rockefellers build aluminum mills for the Communists. Only the absence of a formal declaration of war in Vietnam keeps the Eatons and Rockefellers from being actionable for treason. They have the blood of nearly 50,000 American servicemen on their hands."

"Meanwhile, nearly 50,000 Americans have died in Vietnam, many of them killed by weapons which the Rockefellers directly or indirectly supplied to our avowed enemies. Only the technicality of the lack of a formal declaration of war prevents the Rockefellers' trading in the blood of dead Americans from being actionable as treason."

So your continued ranting about Trump is a moot point as well as being a strawman by comparison. I have more reason, a more valid purpose and a deeper sense of dislike and aversion than you can possibly imagine. Yet I try to keep a civil tongue in my head so I don't allow this repugnance to eat me up. The way I see it, your actions will at some point bring you down, it will cause you to hate more and more, it feeding upon itself until it overtakes you. Even the scriptures I posted have had little to no affect, which seems to corroborate my thinking.

I wonder if you have the mindset of "I will keep posting hate no matter what happens?" Having an agenda like this can hurt you more than anyone else.

Alma 41:11
11 And now, my son, all men that are in a state of nature, or I would say, in a carnal state, are in the gall of bitterness and in the bonds of iniquity; they are without God in the world, and they have gone contrary to the nature of God; therefore, they are in a state contrary to the nature of happiness.

Mosiah 3:19
19 For the natural man is an enemy to God, and has been from the fall of Adam, and will be, forever and ever, unless he yields to the enticings of the Holy Spirit, and putteth off the natural man and becometh a saint through the atonement of Christ the Lord, and becometh as a child, submissive, meek, humble, patient, full of love, willing to submit to all things which the Lord seeth fit to inflict upon him, even as a child doth submit to his father.

Although we ALL agree with this commandment, in October Conference 2001 just after the U.S. invaded Iraq, President Hinckley stated in his talk:
We are people of peace. We are followers of the Christ who was and is the Prince of Peace. But there are times when we must stand up for right and decency, for freedom and civilization, just as Moroni rallied his people in his day to the defense of their wives, their children, and the cause of liberty (see Alma 48:10).

I am assuming you are a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and as such, you are a member of the church dedicated to hosting LDS conversations online but you are culpable of the dissemination and promotion of false doctrine as you are in a position as the forum host to moderate the site when these issues arise.

When topics are contrary to the teachings of the church, contrary to the teachings of prophets and apostles, there are no opinions. It's false doctrine by trying to convince others that their opinion is right despite the official doctrine of the church. By not stopping these kind of posts and behavior, you are promoting and allowing the dissemination of false doctrine as well as confusing others that may read the posts on this forum.

“When the Prophet speaks, … the debate is over” (Ensign, Nov. 1978, p. 108).
https://www.lds.org/ensign/1979/08/the- ... r?lang=eng

I'm extremely disappointed that you would take this stance to allow the promotion of this kind of blatantly false teaching on this forum. Members of the church are to speak the truth and be honest in all their dealing with their fellow man.

I'm all for having people express their opinion on various gospel topics WHEN there isn't official church doctrine on a topic or a set church prescient. There are hundreds of such threads on this forum dedicated to opinions and speculation on topics that we don't know anything about as there is no official stance by the church. What I object to though is you allowing people to try to convince others that their opinion is doctrine when there is already an official stance by the church.
