Where are they? Running for their lives, it would seem. We'll all be doing the same shortly.

When you have the 1st Presidency taking a position on refugees in General Conference, I can understand why members of the church would feel this way. Speaking for myself, I'm very hesitant to say anything against refugee immigration in public now because of that.

For now, I just remind myself of these verses in 2 Nephi 1, and say the judgements of God are just:
6. Wherefore, I, Lehi, prophesy according to the workings of the Spirit which is in me, that there shall none come into this land save they shall be brought by the hand of the Lord.

10. ...behold, I say, if the day shall come that they will reject the Holy One of Israel, the true Messiah, their Redeemer and their God, behold, the judgments of him that is just shall rest upon them.

11. Yea, he will bring other nations unto them, and he will give unto them power, and he will take away from them the lands of their possessions, and he will cause them to be scattered and smitten.

By the verses you quote wouldn't that mean that the refugees should be brought to Mexico, Guatemala and Panama? Thousands of members flock to BOM site tours every year in those countries.

I think in general God has done this throughout time. The verse in the 10 Commandments that says that if we honor our fathers and mothers our days will be long in the land is a communal as well as individual promise. Look at the nations of Europe that not only have turned away from God but also mock or look down upon their heritage. They are the ones dying out and being replaced, and in their pride they demand all others follow their examples. Americans on the left act the same way. Some of the leftists happen to hold temple recommends. Oh well.

I'm extremely concerned with the church's stance on these refugees because as we've seen here in Canada in the last 2 years with this new influx from the middle east, they are not adapting to Canadian lifestyle, they cannot have discussion with the missionaries as over 95% of them are Muslim and mission rules are very strict when it comes to teaching Muslims, various protocols must be followed. They aren't learning English or French well, they aren't integrating as well as the government and media are portraying them to and they also are trying to stifle the reporting of any incidents.

There is already an affordable housing crisis here in Canada and now our Prime Minster want's even more refugees to come to Canada when the current refugees are having issues finding places to live and work once the government subsidies end.

I do see them as the coming occupying force but mainly because our nations have become unrighteous. That is the endgame and it's already happening.

I agree with many that while we need to be Christlike and be welcoming to all those in need, what I don't like is how these people are arriving and are skipping the queue of those that have been in the legal process to immigrate for years. The governments are being very unfair to those people and I've seen many instances of this happening.

It is not unchristian to think that this refugee issue is a setup by other countries to destabilize our countries. I don't like our church's stance on the refugee issue either, so you're not the only ones. There are many of these church members in my ward and stake that can't analyze the current situation and see the situation for what it is. The Gift of the Holy Ghost is also the power of discernment and when we listen, ponder and think about events that affect us, we get a better understanding of world events and how they affect us personally.

I personally believe that the church's stance on gay's, transgendered and this refugee issue has been greatly influenced by being politically correct rather than standing up for what is right! I'd rather be persecuted for our beliefs than to seem like we are pandering to the social norm in order to seem tolerant. Tolerance can only go so far until we end up stopping preaching repentance.

Immigration with no intention of integration is colonization.
