Trying to cut back on bread, and don't care much for circuses.
So, I'll be watching the Super Bowl, probably with nachos and soda.
(Is this because the Cowboys lost?)

I only use to watch because our family would meet and EAT on those days. We no longer do that, so I no longer watch. Football? Meh.
Besides a certain 49ners player and his irritating actions with ripple effects REALLY soured me on the NFL.

Not watching. But I haven't for quite some time, so they won't be missing me.
This reminds me of a certain PH leader in my ward, waaaaaaay back in the day (before wifi and smartphones). He would take his class of teenage boys on a "field trip" out to his van where he had a small TV plugged into the cig lighter, and they would watch football during the class time.
Most. Popular. Teacher. Ever.

Donut runs were common in my priest quorum. Dad picking up donuts on the way home was also common.Lizzy60 wrote:Not watching. But I haven't for quite some time, so they won't be missing me.

Re: I ain't watching the Super Bowl. Who's with me?
This season I tried giving up watching football on Sundays. I might record the Super Bowl, but I don't plan to watch it.
Years ago I worked as a checker in a grocery store. Every Sunday that I had to work I found regular waves of people coming to buy donuts, other treats, or even a week's worth of groceries. I vividly remember the contempt that I felt when one of these people would criticize me for not going to church!

I don't even know who is playing in it. That the extent of my lack of support.

Re: I ain't watching the Super Bowl. Who's with me?
Though I played 4 years of Texas high school football (defensive end), the last one I remember seeing was sometime as a teenager I think. Even though I played, I've never been into watching football or following any sports really, it's just not my thing. I'd rather play than watch, but going to local high school games or the occasional college bowl game at the in-laws is unavoidable and, yes, even enjoyable.

This is no fun if everybody is with the OP.
So the better question now is: I'm watching the Super Bowl. Who's with me?

Haven't watched one in years. I turn the radio station when any lady gaga song comes on. I know what she stands for and who she works for, not listening, not watching.
The commercials used to be clever and funny, but now so many push homosexuality, promiscuity, etc. How do you deal with that while watching with your kids?

I use to always watch it but didn't last year and plan on skipping it this year - oddly it's my wife that pushes for it since she was raised on football. I like college football way more these days and will watch a handful of NFL games during the year but not on Sunday. I care less and less as I get older.

Re: I ain't watching the Super Bowl. Who's with me?
I had a bishop who used to play for the Denver Broncos. When the Broncos went to the Super Bowl we knew he'd be gone that week. We were correct.
I generally watch because it's a fun game to watch, if for no other reason than they roll out some great commercials. If it's two teams I hate, I won't watch. A worst case for me would be if the San FranPsycho Sixty-Niners played the Oakland Raid-Ers. Talk about a no-win scenario, the only way to win there would be if they played in a Cali field when the Big One hit and carried the stadium into the middle of the Pacific.

I haven't owned a TEEVEE in years. But this year, according to the whisperings around my office, I think it is the Dallas Cowboys versus the Anaheim Ducks.Ezra wrote:I don't even know who is playing in it. That the extent of my lack of support.
