Guess who the frontrunner is for the GOP for 2016?

Post by Valiance »

http://www.nationaljournal.com/politics ... r-20140130
Mitt Romney leads the Republican field among New Hampshire primary voters for 2016. Yes, you read that right.

Why not make it a third run for president? That's something that the former Republican nominee is definitely not thinking about right now. To put it in his own recent words: "Oh, no, no, no. No, no, no, no, no. No, no, no."

But that didn't stop the Virginia-based bipartisan policy firm Purple Strategies from adding his name to a recent survey for Granite State voters, which shows Romney in the lead with 25 percent support. Libertarian firebrand Rand Paul (who has strong infrastructure in New Hampshire) and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie are behind with 18 percent and 17 percent support, respectively.

We might be experiencing Mittmentum 3.0. The Netflix documentary about his 2008 and 2012 presidential campaigns was recently released to the excitement of political insiders everywhere. GOP insiders want him to come back: "You know what a lot of them say to me?" an anonymous "operative" told BuzzFeed. "I think we need Mitt back." Romney was even on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon to slow jam the news.

So are we sure he's not running again? "People are always gracious and say, 'Oh, you should run again,' " he said in an interview earlier this month. "I'm not running again."

He's done this kind of race before. He's got the staff. He's got the loyalty. He has the money. Time has passed.

Is there a chance? "I think that Chris Christie and Paul Ryan and Jeb Bush and Scott Walker, and the list goes on, have a much better chance of doing that," he said in the same interview, "and so I will support one of them as they become the nominee."

Maybe, maybe not.
I'm curious... is there anyone in here who was a Ron Paul/3rd party supporter who would or could vote for Mitt vs. Obama round 2? If yes, why? If no, why not? My personal opinion... whoever attains nominee status in today's political arena is bad news for the country and that goes for both parties since the system is so corrupt and rigged in favor of big money. That's why I'll never vote for either of the two candidates on both sides of the aisle... it's just going to be more of the same until God judges and cleanses Washington, DC of the rot and evil than encompasses both parties. I'm not saying Mitt is evil, but he was bought and paid for by big money interests. Anyway... thoughts?

I believe it was Kissinger who said that, but he told the Chinese this two years ago and meant the 2012 election. :ymblushing: Now, having said that, I personally believe Jeb Bush will run and if he wins, this country deserves to be flushed down the toilet once and for all. When we get to the other side of the veil some day and look back upon the history of the United States and the truth about what was going on is revealed, a lot of voters are going to be ashamed that they ever voted for any Bush as it is a crime family. I unwittingly voted for Bush/Cheney in 2000, but that was before I was awake... I can't believe I was accomplice to his getting into office so that he and his band of so-called 'neo-cons' with Cheney in command could usher in their 'all hail the military-industrial complex' crap while transforming the nation into a police state under the guise of fighting this bogus 'war on terror'. And starting the bail-outs for the criminals in our financial system. X(

I would love to see a Priesthood holder like Mitt in office. I'll vote for him,-again! Even if he doesn't run, I suspect he'll be part of the new president's cabinet.

I'll not waste my vote on any third party candidate!

Bob, you only waste your vote if you don't vote at all. You wouldn't like to hear what the Founding Fathers said about voting... you don't vote for someone because you can't stand the other guy or if he's the best of the worst or simply because he holds the priesthood. We've been counseled to vote for good, honest men of integrity who will uphold the Constitution... well, Mitt fails on the Constitution part (has shown a flagrant disregard for it with many of his positions) and given that he was the republican nominee means he is compromised, thus, his integrity is in question. A minimum 2/4 ain't good enough for me brother. And just because he holds the priesthood means squat! Harry Reid holds the priesthood too... does that mean you'd vote for him? :ymblushing: :ymblushing: :ymblushing:

Bobby, you missed my point... if Harry Reid were a republican and running for prez, would you consider voting for him simply because he holds the priesthood, even though you know darn well what his true character is? Orrin Hatch is LDS too and there is no way I'd ever consider voting for him. Mitt is probably the better of the three, but he has shown that he is compromised politically and supports our 'wars' when they are for profit, oil, opium, control of middle east natural resources, pipelines, defense contracts and overthrowing regimes hostile to the survival of the petro-dollar. He would have also been a yes man for big money in this country, just like Obama since they threw a lot of money at them both during their campaigns.

I would vote for Mitt, and once again work in his campaign, but HE WILL NOT RUN. No Republican is going to win in 2016. The Liberaltarians have destroyed this nation for at least the next 40 years is my guestimate. I'll NEVER vote for anyone with the last name of PAUL, EVER. He emits EVIL, and yet claims innocence.
Paulites threw our last election, Mitt was the better choice in oh so many ways, yet the crazy "(so-called)Patriots" declared "My way or the Highway".
I honestly see the Democrats with a Trifecta come Jan 2015 due to the ignorance of the Hard Right/Anarchists in this country. It's sad.

One4Freedom: My thoughts exactly. I still accidentally write 2013 still on my correspondence...

idahommie: In agreement that the Democrats will seize the house come January 2015 and we will referring to Rep. Pelosi as Speaker Pelosi.

My prediction is there will be a third party become very important by 2016. And keep your eyes on Andrew (I don't like guns, traditional marriage, or pro life people) Cuomo in 2016.

No one thought Obama was going to defeat Clinton in the primaries in 2008, in 2006. Right now, I see Cuomo as the dark horse for the Democrat nomination.

Ether 8 idaho. The only individuals I would ever consider voting for are third party candidates or someone like Ron Paul who are friends to the Constitution while having a backbone to challenge those LDG's and their grip of power over the people. Guess who the only one was to challenge the bankers back during Christ's time? Christ. Who has championed the cause of exposing these same banksters today? Ron Paul. I'm not saying Ron Paul is like Jesus Christ, but they both challenged the money men during their days of influence and stood for what was right. :ymapplause: That alone is enough for me to vote for someone like Paul, which I did twice (2008, primaries, and 2012, wrote him in). I also voted for Chuck Baldwin in 2008 for president since Ron was not on the ballot after the primaries. You'll never see me vote for anyone being promoted by the establishment or either political party because they would be compromised and bought and paid for, period.

Every priesthood holder, including Romney, Reid, Hatch, Flake, Lee, Crapo, Udall, Bishop, Chaffetz, and other Latter-day Saints in Congress are under a doctrinal imperative to learn and abide by the principles of the US Constitution "in the tradition of the Founding Fathers" or "as the Founders intended it to be understood". Romney, Reid, Hatch, & Flake definitely have a history of disdain for the Constitution. The others I do not know much about. When prophets and apostles admonished us to eschew socialism, look down with scorn upon any person who would undermine the Constitution, look for and support candidates for elected office who would abide by the Constitution, etc., they made no exception for priesthood holders.

I think it's way too early to speculate on the GOP nominee.. Whoever it is though, is going to have a LONG UPHILL BATTLE. I think that this nation now meets the requirement that the BOM placed on this land being cursed when the majority of the people chose wickedness. If you look at the general attitude of complacency in the issues of abortion, gay marriage, gender identity, feminism, gender roles, serial monogamy, etc.... you can see that we, collectively speaking, have really fallen off the tracks.

I think we've reached the point were we will be on the losing side from here on out. Doesn't mean we should throw our hands up in the air and stop fighting, it just means that we need to hold onto decency and good for all that we're worth until the return of the Savior.

I would not vote for a Progressive if you had a gun to my head.

I will not vote for a RINO, a neo-con, which are Republican progressives.

I will vote R only if the ticket is a Rand Paul / Ted Cruz combination.

You want to talk about throwing away your vote? We've been doing it for years. If you vote for the typical D or R, you are throwing away your vote and your freedom!

Your opinion; I'll vote for Romney if he runs! All you good folk who voted for a third party guy are in part responsible for Obama remaining in office. And, you all seem happy about it, you beat the priesthood holder--- I'll not vote for another libertarian like Paul, I'm not a paulista!

Mitt is probably the better of the three, but he has shown that he is compromised politically and supports our 'wars' when they are for profit, oil, opium, control of middle east natural resources, pipelines, defense contracts and overthrowing regimes hostile to the survival of the petro-dollar.
Why is it that whenever this subject comes up, people start foaming at the mouth about our interests in oil? They chant, "no blood for oil" and other such nonsense???! You know what, oil literally makes our way of life possible! Get over it. Unfortunatly for us, the vast majority of oil exporting countries are under Islamo-facist regimes hostile to jews and christians. So, when one of those countries that is willing to sell oil to us comes under threat, of course it's going to be in our best/self-interest to put boots on the ground to protect this interest! Without oil, this nation and countless other nations would face mass death and sickness due to food and medicines not being able to be shipped. I for one, would prefer my kids were able to eat tonight, thank you very much. Does that mean that I don't care about what happens in other countries were genocide is happening, yet we don't intervene because they don't have oil? Of course not. I care deeply, and I wish we would and could do something about it. Unfortunatly, the human race is all too happy to turn a blind eye on human suffering so long as it doesn't inconvenience them. The Ron Pauls of this world are just such individuals. They would allow these travesties to proceed because it's "illegal" to interfere. 8-|
And although, Bush, Cheney, and other R's also apparently turn blind eyes toward these injustices, it is because the political capital that would be expended to get the nation to support the ouster of these evil regimes would be almost impossible to achieve. It literally takes a Pearl Harbor or a 9/11 before we agree to violence. Some might consider America's distaste for violence to a be a virtue, but when it goes to the extreme as to ignoring these plights I think it might be akin to us being a party to these acts.

"All that's needed for evil to win, is for good men to do nothing"

So while it does seem that we only pick interests that have to do with oil, as much as it might trouble you, this is a reality of what has to be done to ensure that our way of life continues. Food, clothing, medicine, are primarily shipped via trucks. If you stop the trucks for even three days, world wide, it would be catastrophic. Again, for all the posturing and finger pointing that is made by Ron Paul and his followers, they certainly don't consider that were it not for this distasteful policy of picking and choosing our conflicts based on monetary or petro considerations, our way of life could be obliterated if we did not do so.

My wife and I are not US citizens but I think especially those Mormons who voted for a candidate who does not understand your constitution, does not understand his obligation from the Lord to learn and adbide by it, or chooses to ignore that obligation deserve Obama as president. We both come from countries (Canada and Denmark) where we learned from experience that socialsm requires theft of private property mostly thru taxation and governmemt healthcare requires theft of private wealth and is inferior to private healthcare. You had probably the best government any country ever had, at least since the Anglo-Saxens, and you continue to blow it.

Valiance asks: "I'm curious... is there anyone in here who was a Ron Paul/3rd party supporter who would or could vote for Mitt vs. Obama round 2? If yes, why? If no, why not" ? I voted Ron Paul in the 2008 and the 2012 primaries even though I was/an a member of the Constitution Party. And is past I have donated to Paul's re-election campaigns. My reasons are scattered all over this forum.

If Mitt Romney were to run for POTUS in 2016 I would consider him ONLY if he convinced me he understood the US Constitution, and understood his doctrinal mandate to uphold and abide by it. I expect more of LDS candidates. I expect them to demonstrate allegiance to the principles of the Constitution and set an example for other Church members. That to me is more important than his getting elected, especially at his time, or at any time, for that matter.

"May we be wise–prayerfully wise–in the electing of those who would lead us. May we select only those who understand and will adhere to constitutional principles. To do so, we need to understand these principles ourselves.....We should understand the Constitution as the founders meant that it should be understood. We can do this by reading their words about it, such as those contained in the Federalist Papers. Such understanding is essential it we are to preserve what God has given us."
(Elder Ezra Taft Benson, April 1976 General Conference)

"Men who are wise, good, and honest, who will uphold the Constitution of the United States in the tradition of the Founding Fathers, must be sought for diligently."
(Elder Ezra Taft Benson, October 1979 General Conference)

"[Above] all else, strive to support good and conscientious candidates of either party who are aware of the great dangers inherent in communism, and who are truly dedicated to the Constitution in the tradition of our founding fathers."
(President David O. McKay, October 1962 General Conference)

"We have urged you, above all, to try to support candidates....who are truly dedicated to the Constitution in the tradition of our fathers."
(President David O. McKay, November 2, 1964, Deseret News, Letter from the First Presidency)
