Re: How to spot a Narcissist
It is really difficult to spot in the world of population that who is a Narcissist. But some symptoms can indicate that the particular person is a Narcissist. The main symptom of narcissism is that they are egotistical preoccupation with their self. There are extreme narcissists who cuts others and become emotionally isolated.

The core problem as I see it, political free-passes (ignored double standards) dont do any group, race, gender, religion, or culture any favors and are actually quite self-destructive. It certainly didn't do the Christians in Carthage and Navoo any good nor their Mormon victims. Free-passes certainly haven't left American females or the worse for wear of the last few decades.

Modernity has a darkside. Are any of us really that much happier not growing our own food or raising our own animals? Do we really like our cars more then we loved our horses? Artificial constructs political or electronic which remove us from the realities of life rarely leave us happier usually only more confused with lower feeling of self satisfaction.
Indeed there is a double standard and our own irritations aside it hurts them far more then it hurts us. You pointed to some growing side effects. Yes the problem of adult female juveniles is a little worse in Utah then anywhere else I have lived. But, there is also a not small rash of man-childs also. You see them wearing tennis shoes, shorts, and ball caps while shopping for over-sized toys. Looks like all they are missing is the clothesline clip and baseball card for their bike spokes.
Our culture is sick. The world is self-destructing. It is why our inspired Prophets called us out from its ranks. Yes one of things my marriage needed was for my wife to hold herself to similar standards of emotional restraint that she expected me to uphold. She spent alot of years clinging and wanting to stay in the oblivious emotionally untamed world. Eventually she saw all the people around her self-destructing and was willing to hear me out. Patience, reasoning, and following inspiration to know when to cut the line are pretty much mandatory for a happy functional marriage in this sick sick world.

A study shows women having more white matter and men more gray matter related to intellectual skill, revealing that no single neuroanatomical structure determines general intelligence and that different types of brain designs are capable of producing equivalent intellectual performance. Yes ,I but my problem with women is that they have forgotten the purpose of their very existence.Juliette wrote:Whatever women do they must do twice as well as men to be thought half as good. They cannot deny their purpose ,look at their brain and body ,it's written all over them REPRODUCTION. :ymapplause:

And we all know their bodies. so how come they deny their purpose . :-\
We are not denying our purpose, it's just them who do that and they are the cause of all the problems. =))

Re: How to spot a Narcissist
Good book on this subject
Sexual differentiation of the brain By Akira Matsumoto
http://books.google.co.uk/books?id=gc2O ... &q&f=false" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
If the brain works modularly, one might suspect that the portion governing womens' supposed empathy (derived from their natural position as child-bearers and rearers), could in turn make them inherent sociopaths.
All adult men understand that women are primarily interested in a man's ability to care financially and physically for her and her own, at least in the courting stage. Vicariously (if that's the right term for this.. it's early), the collection of instincts related to child rearing are hence also involved in females' developing a naturally materialistic, self-centered, and narcissistic personality which remains even if the woman is without child her entire life.

Re: How to spot a Narcissist
Would this explain, at least in part, why divorce is higher in the working classes than it is in the upper middle and upper classes? If a woman in the upper financial brackets divorces it brings down her standard of living while if a working class woman leaves her man she stands to acquire all kinds of government assistance coupled with (usually) child support? Technically a working class woman can actually upgrade her standard of living after a divorce thanks to a generous government system.Rass922 wrote:Good book on this subject

Re: How to spot a Narcissist
There are a number of studies that show the lower the economic status, the higher the divorce rate. That being said, those who have money but are undergoing financial issues or fight about money or monetary issues increase the odds of divorce as well. Thus financial issues may be A causal factor in the divorce rate. Poverty, and all the things that go with it, also adds significant strain to a relationship. We should not be surprised at all that there are more divorces or unsuccessful relationships among lower SES. Not surprisingly, the loss of jobs, sustained unemployment, lack of meaningful employment opportunities, under employment (not making enough to live off of even if you are working full time), low wages, etc also increase divorce rates as well as leads to a host of other potential social outcomes, like the lack of availability for birth control, medical access, good nutrition, educational success (or even seeing education as a potential means to get out of poverty), etc. especially if this is sustained over multiple generations. What is interesting is that in places where social safety nets are eroded faster or were not as strong have high levels of social issues. If you pull up the bottom, everyone else comes up.

Re: How to spot a Narcissist
This is a very righteous and wise 'interest and concern' for all women to have, for if their husband can't support them suffciently so they can focus on motherhood, then the woman knows she and her children will suffer, as well as society.Rass922 wrote: All adult men understand that women are primarily interested in a man's ability to care financially and physically for her and her own, at least in the courting stage.
But, like anything, this virtue can become a weakness rather than a strength, if taken to an extreme.

Re: How to spot a Narcissist
True enough! One wonders if the mass media actually heightens this problem. In times past a woman could compare her life situation with those who lived next to her or were her immediate relatives. That meant she socialized with people of the same economic strata and rarely could really compare her husband's earning potential with that of the upper class since those worlds rarely came together. However today women watch TV and see flawless men with expensive cars and huge houses and may be more tempted to compare these with their own mates. And one might note that people of lower affluence watch more TV and are more status conscious -- that is why poorer people put more into having slick cars than middle income people and may be why many rap vidoes show ghetto men in expensive jewels, clothes, shoes and cars surrounded by barely clothed white women. Material yearnings and status may be as dangerous for the less affluent, and make them more vulnerable to ad campaigns for status objects that they can afford, as for the more wealthy in society who spend so much effort acquiring the real thing.awake wrote:This is a very righteous and wise 'interest and concern' for all women to have, for if their husband can't support them suffciently so they can focus on motherhood, then the woman knows she and her children will suffer, as well as society.Rass922 wrote: All adult men understand that women are primarily interested in a man's ability to care financially and physically for her and her own, at least in the courting stage.

Now can women be faulted for wanting men who are healthy, strong, sensitive and rich? Maybe not. They want security for their offspring. However, on the same token can men be faulted for wanting healthy, flawless, sensuous, young-looking women who look like they are part of a Victoria's Secret campaign? maybe not. They just want their offspring to have mothers who can bear healthy, beautiful children.

Re: How to spot a Narcissist
Rather than start a new thread, I’m resurrecting this old “boys verses girls - who’s more narcissistic” thread.
As mentioned, most have likely expressed some degree of narcissism - self-centeredness.
Some traits of more extreme narcissism:
*Lack of empathy
*Sense of entitlement - uses people
*Can be charming - when it benefits them
*Gaslighting - twists past experiences, especially when confronted
*Passive-aggressive: hurts you while acting like they did nothing wrong
*Blaming, doesn’t take responsibility
*Tries to turn others against you - undermining
My grandma used to say, “When you point a finger, 4 are pointing back at you.” And I tell my kids, “You can’t control others by remote control, you can just control yourself.” People match up for a reason - opposites may attract but I believe generally self-esteem, like water, meets its own level.
Why do you match with a narcissist? 2 extreme matches both from a pathologically expressed sense of insignificance: narcissism (it’s all about me) & patheticism (it’s never about me, poor me)...

Re: How to spot a Narcissist
I came across an expression that made sense……Some traits of more extreme narcissism:
…*Sense of entitlement - uses people…
Narcissists see you as like a toaster - something they can use but you are seen as an object, not a human with your own needs/thoughts. So when you dare want to share your thoughts or feelings with them, they look at you as if it’s ridiculous - as if a toaster is asking to engage with them.
Also, most narcissists will never even consider that they may have a problem so they’re less likely to be diagnosed. The lack of self-awareness contributes a lot to their dysfunction, mental/social harm & state of being lost.
