Come on, don't be afraid to say no, or even give reasons why one can't or won't get involved. Honesty is a good thing. I don't mind being willing to do something to let God know I care even though it took months before I really decided to register on Grassfire. I learned about it from an LDS friend in CA.
A CALL TO UNITE can also include this. Not everyone may agree with any one petition, but there is something for everyone.

I walked the walk and signed the petition. " The evil of our day, is the silence of the good people".

Although I'm not going to go into any details about my own efforts -- it (being politically pro-active) is a big issue with me too, and something that I have been extensively involved in at several different levels and on a number of different fronts. Something to remember, though, is that Illegal immigration and Sheriff Joe represent just one of many serious issues facing our country. One of the single biggest, which Arizona is on the cutting edge of and ties into this, is not just illegal immigration itself, and what to do about it, but about the long-lost "balance of power" between the federal government and the states, and our current completely over-the-top, out-of-control (in most respects; illegal immigration just happens to be one of few areas where they are doing less rather than more) federal government. Like Lundbaek, I suspect, what I have found, however, is that like the vast majority in the Church, the vast majority here on LDSFF seem to be much more interested in just discussing and talking about these things. Moreover, many seem to believe that by endlessly debating the merits of presidential candidates, and possibly making it out to vote, they are walking the walk. It is disconcerting. But don't get discouraged, please keep on walking.

Great post! Its difficult not to be discouraged. Look what happened to Russell Pearce!
A person can receive an education, earn degrees, become a scholar, but what ever happened to common sense? Seeing the big picture?
I just don't get it?????
