Re: Favorite books on self-sufficiency

1) AVOW preparedness manual. This is actually a very good manual. A little odd on the disclaimer but good information inside. So true! Some might say a bit extreme, but I downloaded the free pdf version of it first and found that the info inside was really useful. I actually like the odd vibe to it...

Re: Ouija Boards

My brother in law's family member was using a Ouija board and tried to throw the game away later. Well, the triangle piece that moves around to spell out the letters kept showing up in his house (hiding in weird places like under the bed, etc.) no matter how many times he attempted to throw it away...

Favorite books on self-sufficiency

Hello all! Wanted to get your opinions on recommended reading about self-sufficiency and prepping. What books are worth buying? I do have on my bookshelf for general prepping ideas (and so far I really like these): Note: Edited to add more books and correct author I got wrong previously. 1) AVOW pre...

Re: The God Theorem

=)) =)) =)) Nice! Made me laugh. In regard to this article, I agree that we come from the same intelligence (God), and in harming others we do harm ourselves and will probably be made to feel how we made others feel at some point in the next life. This is because we have our agency and reap the cons...

Re: The God Theorem

Interesting article... thanks for sharing! I do think George Clay is right when he said that we may be STRIVING to be as God is, but that doesn't mean that we are there yet. It would be cocky to say we are God, when we are so imperfect. And therefore A doesn't equal B... at least not at this point. ...

Re: The God Theorem

That's kind of like saying...
A=you
B=your mom
A-B=0 true
Therefore A=B ... And this is false because
B-A =/= 0
Makes sense? Right?

I have a cavity right now and am trying to heal it naturally using this recipe for toothpaste: http://joybileefarm.com/cure-tooth-decay/ I must say, it isn't yummy or sweet, but I will try to update you guys if it works or not. So far, it isn't getting any worse, and doesn't hurt at all. I think the...

Re: Affording a Family in the Last Days

I can attest to the fact that communal house sharing works. We bought our home and share it with my husband's parents and grandmother. They pay us a small rent and we all help each other with cooking and cleaning (with everyone having a handful of "assigned chores," except for Grandma...she is getti...

Free Online Courses

Hey guys! Just thought I would let you know (in case this hasn't been mentioned already)... Fee.org has free online courses about economics, in case anyone wants to learn more about it. I took the "Booms and Busts" course and it was informative and entertaining. Not too hard to follow either. The li...

Tell her you happen like your outfit, and there are other things in the world to be embarrassed about besides the way someone is dressed. Some time ago I posted this in another thread. I am interested to know what other people have in their memory regarding Genesis 1:1. The Lion and the Lamb

I have heard about this concept called "The Mandela Effect." This is where people believe with all their heart and soul that something is true but it really has never been true. One such example is that many people believe that in the scriptures it mentions the lion and the lamb lying down together....

Evan McMullin is doing good in the Utah polls. What are the good and the bad on this guy? If I had one piece of advice for you, it would be to give yourself the DIGNITY these things: 1) The DIGNITY of letting life be imperfect sometimes. If you love your wife, you will just have to forgive her for dating someone else after your divorce (even if it is very dysfunctional in your eyes, she ...

Raw, Unfiltered Honey + Beekeeping!

If you are working on your food storage, Bee Champions is a great place to get honey! The price is very reasonable. They sell the 5 gallon bucket of raw, unfiltered honey for $150 (about $2.50 a pound)! It is sourced from only local (UTAH) beekeepers. They also have beekeeping equipment, which is re...

Re: Masturbation and sexuality

The kind of "black and white" thinking you are referring to is not actually used in the same context as I was referring to. I'm using the phrase in the sense that it has been used for decades to describe a common reasoning heuristic. Also known as "all-or-nothing thinking" or "splitting." If you're...

Also, I would not want the relief society president to interview about worthiness. There tends to be the stereotype of relief society women gossiping or disclosing secrets that they should not. All of the above comments are interesting thoughts. I am a woman, and I must say, I like how the setup is now when it comes to the bishop's interviews with minors. They have the ward clerk in the next room or some other counselor to deter impropriety. I do not think that the parents of a minor shoul...
